Summer Temporary Position at the Surgery and Urology Clinic

We are looking for temporary staff for the period of June, July, and August, both part-time and full-time, to allow our regular staff to take a well-deserved vacation.

You will receive an introduction tailored to your experience and needs. We offer an exciting job with various patient categories and friendly colleagues, as well as a broad competence across several specialties.

Information about the Position

We are looking for someone who preferably has a few years of experience in emergency care or surgical care and enjoys working in a team. However, we also have the capacity to welcome new graduates.

As a nurse on the ward, you will plan, lead, and perform specific surgical/urological nursing tasks. You will continuously work with observations, be responsible for pre- and post-operative care, pain relief, palliative care, and ensure that the patient is optimized for surgery. Your tasks will also include making independent assessments and leading the nursing team.

Information about Our Units

Ward 61: is an acute care ward focused on diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract. We investigate, treat, and care for patients seeking care for, for example, inflammatory bowel diseases, diverticulitis, and colorectal cancer. We perform elective and emergency surgery on patients with bowel diagnoses. The ward is world-leading according to the ERAS care program, which is a standardized approach with short hospital stays.

Ward 63/64: is an acute care ward focused on diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract. We care for and treat patients undergoing planned surgeries in liver surgery, bariatric surgery, inguinal hernia surgery, and gallstone surgery. We perform the most gallbladder surgeries and liver ablations in Sweden, and we have advanced abdominal wall hernia surgery. Acutely ill patients also come from the emergency department at all hours of the day.

Ward 65: is the clinic's urological ward with 12 beds. We have both an elective and acute flow to the ward, where elective patients undergo surgical procedures for cancer in the urinary tract, bladder, prostate, or kidney. Each day, we also receive acute patients who may have suffered from kidney stone attacks, urosepsis, hematuria, and other symptoms from the urinary tract. We also care for acute patients with surgical issues.

We are looking for someone who is curious about working with surgical and urological care. You value a work environment with good collaboration focused on the patient's best interests. Since you will be replacing regular staff, we expect you to be self-sufficient and able to ask for help when needed. We see that you have good collaboration skills as the team consists of various professions. In challenging situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled while focusing on the right things. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Employment Type

Temporary position for June, July, August with the possibility of extension 38:15h/week. Hourly employment is also possible.

About the Operation

The area of Surgery and Urology conducts both emergency and elective surgery and urology, as well as surgical operations in outpatient and inpatient care around the clock. We treat and care for patients primarily from Stockholm County, but also from outside the county and international patients with surgical or urological diseases. Patients are taken care of in several different specialist clinics, two operating rooms, and four wards with different profile areas; colorectal surgery, surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract, bariatric surgery, and liver tumors, as well as urology. Approximately 460 staff work here.
